Aszendent Rechner (Ascendant Calculator)
Enter your exact birth data to estimate your ascendant (rising sign). For best accuracy, use the correct timezone for your birth place and date (including daylight saving time when applicable).
Tip: If you were born in Berlin in winter, use UTC+1, latitude 52.5200, longitude 13.4050.
What Is an Aszendent?
The Aszendent (ascendant or rising sign) is the zodiac sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at your exact time and place of birth. While your sun sign describes your core identity, the ascendant is often linked to first impressions, social style, instinctive reactions, and the way you step into new situations.
Because Earth rotates quickly, the ascendant changes roughly every two hours. That is why even a small difference in birth time can lead to a different result. If you only know your birth date but not your exact birth time, any ascendant result should be treated as a rough estimate.
How This Aszendent Rechner Works
This calculator uses your birth date, birth time, geographic latitude/longitude, and timezone to calculate local sidereal time and estimate the ecliptic degree of the ascendant. That degree is then mapped to one of the 12 zodiac signs.
Inputs you need
- Birth date (day, month, year)
- Birth time (preferably from birth record)
- Timezone offset at birth (for example UTC+1, UTC-5)
- Latitude and longitude of birthplace
Why timezone matters
If the timezone is wrong, the Earth-rotation angle in the formula will be wrong too, and your ascendant can shift to a neighboring sign. Always verify whether daylight saving time (summer time) was active on your birth date.

How to Read Your Result
After calculation, you will see:
- Ascendant sign (your Aszendent)
- Ecliptic degree (0° to 360°)
- Degree within sign (0° to 29.99°)
In natal astrology, many astrologers combine the ascendant with the ruling planet of that sign, the sun sign, moon sign, and house placements to produce a complete interpretation. So think of this tool as a strong starting point, not the entire chart.
Accuracy Notes and Limitations
- This page provides an educational, astronomy-based estimate of the tropical ascendant.
- Results depend on accurate birth time and timezone conversion.
- Near extreme latitudes, ascendant calculations can become unstable or non-standard.
- Professional astrology software may include additional corrections and house system options.
